Alhamdulillah, we are blessed to observe the first Friday and the 4th or 5th day  of the holy month of Ramadan. This sacred time offers us a unique opportunity to deepen our faith, reflect on our blessings, and strengthen our bond with the Almighty.

As we fast, let us also feed our souls with patience, compassion, and gratitude. Let us remember the less fortunate and extend our hands in generosity and kindness. This month is not only about abstaining from food and drink but also about purifying our hearts and actions.

I am humbled to share a milestone in my professional life that fills me with immense gratitude and joy. Today, I received confirmation of my Advance HE Fellowship, a recognition that signifies not just an accolade but a testament to the commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and educational leadership in higher education.

My journey towards achieving this Fellowship was paved with the strong support and love of my wife Dr-Fatemeh Khozaei Ph.D. FHEA and Family, collective wisdom of my peers, the unwavering support of my respected mentors Dr. Israr Ul Hassan CCHEM FRSC, CMgr FCMI, SFHEA, FIET, FIoL, FIMMM, Dr. El Manaa Barhoumi Ph.D., FHEA. and Dr. Wesam Beitelmal, Ph.D., CIRTL-Scholar, CAMA, FHEA, FIIRSM, PMP® and the insatiable curiosity of my students. Each step of the way, I was reminded of the beauty of knowledge sharing and the transformative power it holds in shaping minds and futures.

As I walked through the aisles, marveling at the innovative projects and the palpable enthusiasm of these bright young minds, I couldn’t help but remember my own journey. From the countless hours spent in laboratories to the rigorous debates in classrooms, each step was a building block towards not just becoming a scientist and professor, but a lifelong learner.

This event underscored the importance of cultural diversity in enriching our educational experience, fostering an environment where every idea is valued, and every voice is heard. Alhamdulillah 🧑🏻‍🎓

Alhamdullilah, Delighted to share, after three years of dedication and hard work, I successfully defended my PhD thesis from Universiti Sains Malaysia (One of the top public universities in Gelugor, Malaysia. It is ranked #=137 in QS World University Rankings 2024), a milestone that represents not just the culmination of the academic pursuit but a gateway to new beginnings in the field of robotics and computer vision.

The essence of my thesis revolves around enhancing Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) for autonomous robots in dynamic environments. This work, spanning several years, was driven by a passion to solve real-world problems through innovation and resilience. It’s a journey of continuous learning, unlearning, and relearning—underpinned by the belief that the pursuit of knowledge is endless.

Proposed research led to several publications that already been published and under review in the high ranking journals. I believe that will contribute meaningful advancements to the field of robotics:

1. MVS-SLAM: Our exploration into enhanced multiview geometry for semantic RGBD SLAM, aimed at improving robot navigation in dynamic settings (Journal of Field Robotics, Wiley).DOI https://lnkd.in/eyiy-J-p [Q1, WoS, SCOPUS, JCR]

Additionally, two of our articles published in  conferences, including the integration of YoloV8 for dynamic SLAM and Review of SLAM, underscores our ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in robotic navigation and mapping.

As I share this, I am reminded of the countless hours of research, experimentation, and sometimes, the inevitable setbacks. Yet, it’s these challenges that make the journey worthwhile. They teach us resilience, humility, and the joy of discovery.

I am deeply grateful for the support of my family, supervisors, mentors, peers, and the academic community. As I look to the future, I am excited about continuing to explore, innovate, and contribute to our understanding of the world through the lens of robotics and computer vision.

As I take a moment to reflect on my journey, both personal and professional, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude. Alhamdulillah, I had the privilege of offering prayers at Al Masjid an Nabawi, a moment that has deeply touched my soul. This experience, so profound and moving, has reminded me of the beauty of simplicity in our complex lives.
I have navigated the realms of discovery and knowledge, always in pursuit of truth and understanding. Yet, standing in such a sacred place, I am reminded that the essence of wisdom often lies in humility, in the quiet moments of reflection and in the sincere prayers whispered from the heart.
This moment is a powerful reminder that no matter how far we may travel in our quest for knowledge, it is our faith, our sincerity, and our humility that truly guide us towards enlightenment. To all my students and colleagues, I share this message: let us always strive to blend our scientific pursuits with spiritual depth, for it is this balance that enables us to achieve true greatness.
